Governance & DAO
Genesis Africa operates as a collective with shared governance. We build as a DAO, and members have a real say in what we ship.
Leadership roles
Every 3 months, members elect two core roles:
Chairperson
Leads the collective's direction, coordinates across country groups, and represents Genesis Africa in partnerships.
ICE (Internal Coordination Executive)
Keeps operations running: sessions, content cadence, project tracking, and cross-team alignment.
Both roles are elected by members, not appointed. Terms reset every 3 months so leadership stays accountable to the community.
Quarterly election fixture bracket
Think of it like a football tournament bracket: each quarter is a new season, members nominate candidates, vote, and two roles are filled for the next 3 months.
Voting power on projects
When we vote on projects we build (what to ship, what to pitch, what to fund), the split is fixed:

The remaining 80% belongs to the wider membership. Every member's voice matters, but no single leader can override the collective.

- New products and protocol experiments
- Grant and hackathon submissions
- On-chain reward splits when payouts arrive
- Partnerships and co-marketing
- Budget allocation for collective initiatives
- Country-level priorities
