Country Groups
How Genesis Africa organises members by country, with local groups, chairpersons, and growing representation.
Country Groups
Genesis Africa is a pan-African collective. Every member belongs to a country group based on where they are from or where they represent.
How the apply page works
When you visit the apply page, you see a grid of 52 African countries. Each flag shows how many members have joined from that country.
From your side, the process is straightforward:
- Enter your name and email
- Choose your country from the list
- Pick your role: Writer, Developer, or Promo / KOL
- Submit your application
After you apply, you are part of that country's group. The count beside your country's flag increases as more people from that region join. Numbers refresh on the site so visitors can see which countries are growing.
Open the apply page to see live member counts per country.
What you get after applying
Once your application is in:
- You are counted as a member of your chosen country
- You get onboarded into Discord and your regional channels
- You can join daily sessions, projects, and country-level discussions
We review applications and follow up by email. If you are accepted, you will get access to the collective workspace and your country group.
Country chairperson
Each country group elects its own chairperson to:
- Represent local members in collective discussions
- Coordinate country-specific meetups and content
- Surface regional opportunities (grants, events, partnerships)
- Bridge local builders with the global Genesis Africa network
Country chairpersons work alongside the global chairperson and ICE elected every 3 months. See Governance.
Growing your country
There is no fixed cap on members per country. As more builders apply from a region, that country's group grows, and so does its voice in the collective.
